The docket can show that a motion was filed, a hearing was set, an order was entered, or a disposition was recorded. It does not guarantee access to the full text of every item.
Montgomery County belongs to Alabama's Fifteenth Judicial Circuit. Circuit Court is the trial court of general jurisdiction and handles felonies, larger civil disputes, domestic relations, and specified appeals. District Court handles limited-jurisdiction matters, including misdemeanors outside city limits, lower civil claims, evictions, and state or county traffic. Montgomery Circuit Criminal adds an important local rule: each judge sets an individual docket. Once counsel is appointed or retained, notices of court dates go to that attorney. A defendant with a case on a judge's docket should discuss the setting with counsel instead of relying only on a public online entry.

A UTC number identifies a traffic citation. A BookNum belongs to a jail booking, while a FolderNum or WarrantNumber belongs to the sheriff warrant system. Probate uses Year + Number. None should be assumed to be the same as the state trial-court case number.
Montgomery County Criminal Dockets
The Montgomery Circuit Criminal division handles felony cases and misdemeanor appeals from District and Municipal Courts. Felonies may start in District Court, then move through grand-jury action to Circuit Court. Its docket can reflect indictment, arraignment, bail or detention, plea talks, motions, trial, adjudication, sentencing, and appeal activity. Each judge controls an individual calendar, so there is not one universal county criminal docket for all cases.
Discovery is not part of the Montgomery Circuit Clerk's record. The local court states that it goes to appointed or retained counsel. Montgomery Docket Versus Case File
A docket is an index-like chronology. The full court file contains available pleadings, orders, and images tied to those entries. Read Montgomery County Docket Events
Read the action summary from oldest to newest, but return to the top-level status after reviewing the entries. A complaint or indictment identifies an accusation. Arraignment is the hearing where the accused receives the charges and enters a plea. A continuance moves a hearing or trial to a later date. A dismissal disposes of the case without trial, while a judgment records a final court decision. Later appeal entries can show that the matter continued after judgment.
Financial history can include costs and fines, but it does not replace the judge's order. Likewise, a setting date is not proof that a hearing occurred as planned. A later continuance, cancellation, ruling, or disposition may change the effect of the earlier entry. Compare the latest case status, the most recent action, and any linked order before drawing a conclusion.
Criminal dockets require another distinction. An indictment is the grand jury's written accusation. A plea is the defendant's response, and disposition is the final result recorded for a count. Sentencing can follow a guilty plea or adjudication. One case can contain several counts with different results, so a single case-level label may not explain what happened to each charge.
